Mistaya Series

All art is ultimately about finding connections to our environment, to our relationships, to our selves. In the Mistaya series, the paintings deconstruct the environment, reassembling it in multiple layers and perspectives that compel the viewer to search for subject, meaning and intent. Mark making, color, composition become narratives of the complexity of our relationship to our environment. The work addresses the issues of the increasing disconnection with natural environments typical of our urban societies by pulling the viewer in to explore and contemplate the fractured elements of the environment, the fractured moments of time, to rebuild a sense of connectedness
